Hispania struggled with money issues in 2010 season.
There were some news of partnering with Toyota for chasis and car developement, but then Toyota cancelled it stating payment issues. Also the report said, Toyota Motorsport has left HRT with “no car, no base, no drivers, no sponsors — only a Cosworth engine.”
Recently HRT got investment of former Telefonica boss Juan Villalonga. But, now the report from spanish sports newspaper says HRT, the slowest team in formula one this year, is for sale. Owner Jose Ramon Carabante and his equity partners have put up the team for sale. “It is evident that if Carabante finds a buyer he will dispose of the team,” the report added.
HRT team boss Colin Kolles said, earlier this week, he is in no rush to appoint drivers for 2011.
“We are not necessarily in a hurry, the deadline is three days before the first race,” he told Italian website 422race.com. Also added, “The 2011 car? We will have one.”
Rumours Denied By HRT :
After the reports of rumours of Hispania on sale, today the Reuters news agency quotes a spokeswoman of the team responding as:”The team is not on sale, we are working for 2011.””Carabante is working on getting sponsors and investors. One Spanish group is interested in joining the team but things are not so easy nowadays in the world.”
