Nick Heidfeld is now struggling to find a full time race seat for 2011 season, earlier this season he was test driver for mercedes and then switched to test the tyres for the F1’s newest tyre supplier, Pirelli, and then he completed the season with BMW Sauber. Now, BMW is no longer in F1, but the marque is set to enter the German touring car series DTM in 2012.
“I have not finished my career in formula one, but working in the long term with BMW when they return to the DTM would be interesting,” Heidfeld admitted to Auto Bild.
BMW’s motor sport director Dr Mario Theissen, who is departing from the team, indicated that the DTM team is seeking a driver of Heidfeld’s calibre and it will be important that we have a good development driver.
Nick Heidfeld has admitted that he will be interested in working with BMW again. He raced for BMW between 2006 and last year in formula one.
