Battle moves to court for brand ‘Lotus’

The Proton owned group Lotus has withdrawn the team’s official naming license and a plan of AirAsia owner Tony Fernandes’ to called it ‘Team Lotus’ by buying that separate name is now subject to court
proceedings as the identity of F1 team, known as Lotus Racing, moved further to the court on Thursday.
The Group Lotus is all set to enter F1 along with the Enstone based Renault team in 2011, and also they have announced to supply engines and bodywork for the Indycar series cars from 2012. All this as the team want to compete with the big buys.
A GP2 project for 2011 has already been put in place by Group Lotus, and this leaves Fernandes with very little option of adopting different name for the identity of his privately-owned UK based Malaysian team.
Tony Fernandes ownf Lotus Racing is confident for 2011 season and have already started working on their project for the next season.
